Retexturing FAQs Q. 1 What is hydraulic retexturing?
A. Hydraulic retexturing is the treatment of the road surface with ultra high pressure water and suction recovery to achieve improved texture and skidding resistance
Q. 2 Which surfacing materials can be treated with OSPREY3000?
A. All the main surfacing materials can be treated hot rolled asphalts, stone mastic asphalts and thin surfacings.
Q. 3 How long will the treatment last?
A. This depends very much on volume of traffic. The treatment restores the surfacing back to its original properties, and is even used to give “accelerated wear” on SMA's immediately after laying.
Q. 4 Will it harm the existing surfacing material?
A. Provided the existing material is structurally sound, there will be no damage to the road surface. Our process gives variable pressures, flows and speed to cater for every different section of road.
Q. 5 What pressures do you use?
A. As stated above, the pressure used depends on the existing surfacing. Our equipment operates at pressures from 500 bar (7,250 psi) up to 3000 bar (43,500 psi) but usually between 2000 bar (29,000) and 2500 bar (36,250 psi).
Q. 6 What happens to the arisings from the process?
A. All water is disposed of to Environment Agency legislation and all solids are disposed of in to a licensed land fill.
Q. 7 Can OSPREY3000 clean concrete?
A. Absolutely, OSPREY3000 cleans concrete will little effort. Usually prior to a thin surfacing application. See pictures on right. |
